Premier Communication Electronics (PCE), a leading installer of blue light technologies, communication and connected vehicle solutions, has been selected by Handsfree Group as a strategic installation partner for the delivery of Fixed Vehicle Devices (FVD) under their contract with the Home Office.
A new mission critical communication platform for the emergency services is set to replace the existing TETRA Airwave system. The transition to the new communication platform will require the installation to 40,000 FVD’s into emergency service vehicles including police, fire and ambulance, as well as other users to eventually include local authorities, utility services and first responders.
The R5 Fixed Vehicle Solution was developed in association with the Home Office and will utilise the 4G LTE network significantly improving the quality, consistency and coverage of the existing Airwave system. The solution consists of an exclusive and powerful control unit, linking to a choice of intuitive user interfaces which are flexible and programmable, so organisations can add functionality on-demand such as extra terminals, multiple handsets, Push-to-talk, camera view and telematics.
PCE’s installation knowledge and experience, portfolio of blue light projects and clients, and team of FITAS accredited and security vetted engineers make them an ideal partner to install the R5 Device and support the transition.
“We are thrilled to be selected to install the revolutionary Handsfree R5 product” said PCE’s Chief Executive Officer, Karen Langley. “We have 45 years’ experience working with the emergency services and blue light sectors across the UK. With Handsfree’s incredible technology solution and our installation capabilities and expertise, I am confident we can seamlessly support this prestigious mission-critical communication rollout.”
Matthew Johnson, CEO and Co-Founder of Handsfree Group commented: “A key benefit of this alliance will be the synergies created through shared expertise. Our Installation partners are the UK’s leading vehicle technology installers, providing vehicle installation services to the UK’s largest fleets. Our partners have worked on mission-critical blue light projects across the UK and their FITAS accredited engineers will provide significant experience across a diverse range of vehicle technologies during the implementation period.”
